ΔS=δQREV/T is an EP with ~27' minutes length, consisting of 6 tracks, 5 of them instrumental. It combines guitars, keys, orchestral strings/wind assembles and electronic sounds, resulting in an attempt to attempt to illustrate an expression of cosmic nihilism and insignificance, towards the indifferent Abyss.
A R T W O R K
At the cover's center lies a metaphorical, almost lovecraftian depiction of Entropy, a universal force of nature, embodied here by the symbolic form of Chaos. The inclusion of the eye is a reference to Niche's book ''Beyond Good And Evil'', specifically in the phrase ''If you gaze long into the Abyss, the Abyss will gaze back at you''.
Entropy is a result of the 2nd thermodynamic law, which its equation becomes the name
of this EP. In more detail, the equation itself includes: Δ = velocity change, S = Entropy, Q = heat transfer, R = gas constant, E = internal energy, V = Volume, T = temperature. So in other words, it measures the change of Entropy.
As Entropy extends into the universe, suns and other
celestial bodies surrounding it give away their energy, therefore the
closer they are, the more they are drained. As a whole, it represents the cosmic process of equating energy.
C O N C E P T
This EP deals with the burden of existence, connecting its mortal dimensions with the cosmic perceptive / in exaggeration, transforming it into the heaviest thing of the eternally self-collapsing universe, even heavier than Neutron Stars or Black Holes.
According to Niche, a human recognizing the weakness to overcome, is in the beginning of an absolute aphorism, heading to an infinite hunt for the Truth. That's caused by the realization that every struggle there is to overcome, doesn't originate from a supernatural monster as a source, but very grounded, human related injustices. So during this hunt, the subject proceeds by ripping apart all already set values and replace them with the subject's own ones. That act becomes a habit, evolving an interconnected relationship with the opposing ''monsters'' and due to this pursuit's necessity, ends up to adopt the ''Monster'' persona. After that point, follows a demystification of totally everything, including the value of life itself. This grid of rupturing establishing norms and revealing various Truths takes a toll on the mind and eventually, drains all of the subject's energy.
The cosmic extension of the concept is not connected with the existential journey of the human condition, just and only through a parallelism of draining all physical energy from both conscious beings and celestial bodies - but also through a literal conclusion of the said journey. When inevitably all human certitude has been ripped well of apart, arrives to the same destination with the universe: An Absolute Nothing, gazing back by the affect it has on everything is or ever will be known.
The orchestration and titles of the EP's tracks, narrate moments of this affect:
From the limits of the reality we experience as spacetime in ''Ergosphere'',
To the slow dimming of energy by the equation of ''Entropy'',
To the decomposition and recycling of matter from/to a ''Nebula'',
To the parenthetical interference of an ''Anthropocene'' era which expedites the thermodynamic procedure,
The end of this civilization's vanity with a ''Meteor Shower'',
To the relic of our hopes and dreams, laid out on ''Stellar Hammocks''.
B E Y O N D
The journey continues. Δs=δQREV/T is the first part of a trilogy dedicated on this particular subject, which will be followed by another two EPs in 2021 & 2022 and conclude in a full length album, released in 2023.
